Code 9106 Uzbek Afghan Pazyryk Carpet 306x208cm Hand knotted

RM9,200.00

This magnificent carpet, piece #9106 measuring 306 x 208 cm, is a handmade and hand-knotted Pazyryk design inspired by the legendary carpet discovered in the Siberian mountains, dating back approximately 2,500 years. The original Pazyryk carpet is considered one of the oldest surviving pile carpets in the world, and this piece beautifully revives its powerful nomadic symbolism and structured geometric composition.

The design is rich with historical character. The central field features an organised grid of repeating star motifs, framed by multiple intricate borders. Most striking are the outer borders depicting mounted horsemen and stylised animals — a defining feature of ancient Central Asian artistry. These motifs reflect strength, movement, and tribal heritage, making the carpet not just decorative, but deeply cultural and symbolic.

This carpet is woven by ethnic Uzbek weavers in North Afghanistan, artisans who continue centuries-old weaving traditions passed down through generations. Each knot is tied by hand, creating a dense and durable structure. The hand-knotting technique gives the carpet longevity, clarity of design, and the ability to last for decades with proper care.

This magnificent carpet, piece #9106 measuring 306 x 208 cm, is a handmade and hand-knotted Pazyryk design inspired by the legendary carpet discovered in the Siberian mountains, dating back approximately 2,500 years.

The material used is mountain sheep Karakul wool, known for its strength, resilience, and natural sheen. Karakul wool has a firm yet refined texture, allowing intricate patterns to appear crisp and well-defined. It is highly durable, making the carpet suitable for both elegant formal spaces and daily-use areas.

All dyes used in this piece are plant-based natural dyes derived from sources such as pomegranate skins, wild berries, roots, and other botanicals. These natural dyes create rich, earthy tones with subtle variations known as abrash, giving the carpet depth and an authentic antique character. Over time, these colours mature gracefully rather than fading harshly.

With its generous size, this carpet is ideal for a living room under a full sofa arrangement, a formal sitting area, or a statement office space. It works beautifully in both traditional interiors and modern homes where a bold, historical focal point is desired.

As with all fine handmade wool rugs, regular gentle vacuuming (without a rotating brush), occasional rotation, and professional washing every few years will help preserve its beauty. We also provide full restoration and specialist care services for treasured pieces .

This is more than a carpet — it is a woven tribute to one of the world’s oldest textile masterpieces.

You are most welcome to experience its texture and craftsmanship at our CARPET INN showroom in Ampang. For further details or assistance, you may also WhatsApp us at +6012-3372788.
