This beautiful Chinese Khotan handmade wool rug originates from Xinjiang in western China, a region historically renowned for its distinctive carpet-weaving tradition and its position along the ancient Silk Road. Handmade in wool and coloured with natural dyes, this piece has been exceptionally well preserved and remains in excellent condition. Measuring approximately 145 × 93 cm, it is a particularly charming size for use as an accent or collector rug.

The rug is dominated by a magnificent deep ruby and crimson-red field, creating a warm and luxurious backdrop. At its centre sits a beautifully proportioned floral medallion, composed of stylised blossoms, scrolling leaves and geometric floral elements in shades of golden yellow, ochre, beige and muted earthy tones.
